What Materials Do You Need To Use A Voltmeter?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

To use a voltmeter, you need a means of connecting it to the electric circuit or voltage source that you want to measure. You need to be sure that the voltage range the voltmeter measures is compatible with the voltage you wish to measure. You also need to make sure that the voltmeter is compatible with the frequency of the voltage in the circuit you are measuring.

Many voltmeters today are capable of measuring voltages from a few millivolts to several hundred volts, AC or DC. Their AC frequency range often extends from below 50 Hz to well above 20 kHz. At higher voltages (above perhaps 30 V), you need to take appropriate safety precautions to avoid shock or death.
