Eating disorders can affect anyone. They are caused by the insecurity of your outward appearance circulating around your weight, causing you to stop eating or throw up all that you do. If anyone can have insecurities than anyone can have an eating disorder.

Eating disorders are usually physical manifestations of a mental condition. There is a general tendency to associate eating disorders with women; to think that men are above eating disorders. This tendency arises from the feeling that women are more concerned about their slimness and good looks compared to men. That is, however, a myth. Men too suffer from eating disorders.
The myth that men do not suffer from eating disorders is evaporating rapidly nowadays. Studies and research have shown that men too are prone to such disorders. There have been cases recorded of men being treated for anorexia, bulimia, and other such related conditions.
The numbers are, however, lower than those recorded in the case of women. The reasons for this vary, but that does not take away the fact that men are as susceptible to these conditions as women. Eating disorders are not women-specific, as we often tend to believe.
