How Do You Feel After A Hair Transplant?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Needless to say, your head will feel quite sore once the anaesthetic has worn off and this will be followed by aching and a feeling of tightness that can last a few days. Sometimes the head really throbs and the patient needs to take paracetamol to relieve this.

Bandages, if they are used at all, will be taken off within about a day after the operation. Two days later, it is possible to gently wash the hair, which may be encrusted with blood. The stitches are removed after a week to 10 days and the scalp will gradually become less sore and any swelling or bruising should subside.

It is important to rest and not undertake exercise or other strenuous activity as this increases blood flow to the scalp and may cause the transplants to bleed. After two weeks, you will feel more back to normal but you need to avoid exercise and contact sports for a few more weeks to avoid damaging the delicate skin grafts.
