There are three types of boundaries between plate's firstly destructive boundaries, secondly constructive boundaries and lastly conservative boundaries.
• Destructive boundaries: These occur where plates are in collision. When they meet, the edge of one plate is forced to slide beneath the other and move down into the mantle. As the descending plate moves downwards into the hot mantle, it melts and becomes part of the mantle. The process is called subduction. The oceanic trenches are regions where plates meet and subduction occurs. This is happening all along the west coast of South America. Some oceans are shrinking in size as subduction occurs.
• Constructive boundaries: Constructive boundaries occur where plates are moving apart. There are volcanoes along the oceanic ridges. When lava erupts from these volcanoes, it cools to form new oceanic crust. The new crust adds to the plates on each side and pushes them apart. As the plates move apart from the ridge, the width of the ocean floor increases. The process is called sea-floor spreading. It is occurring in e.g. the mid-Atlantic ridge.
Conservative boundaries: These occur where two plates slide past one another. The San Andreas Fault in California is an example of this.

Other Boundaries include Convergent Oceanic-Oceanic plates which causes plates to collide, Continental-Continental convergent which would have similar effects as Oceanic -Oceanic, Continental-Oceanic convergent boundaries produce subduction zones when the denser Oceanic plate sinks under the less dense continental plate where as said above it is destroyed.
