    Oxygen is a chemical element and its symbol is O. The atomic number of oxygen is 8. So, there are eight electrons and eight protons present in an atom of oxygen. The atomic mass of oxygen is 16. The number of neutrons plus number of protons is equal to the atomic mass of an atom. The number of neutrons in oxygen atom is;

    Number of neutron = atomic mass - atomic number

    Number of neutrons = 16 - 8

    Number of neutrons = 8
