Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The first English dictionary that was purely alphabetically arranged was written in the year 1604 by Robert Cawdrey who was an English teacher. It was later on in 1755 when Samuel Johnson wrote “A Dictionary of the English Language. It was a dictionary that was very reliable and that is the reason it is Samuel Johnson who is believed to have written the first dictionary. His dictionary was used for more than 150 years after which the Oxford University Press started writing and releasing its own dictionaries which are now considered to be among the best and most reliable.
