Is Shopping Online Safer Than Shopping In The High Street?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Shopping online isn't as safe as shopping in the high street. There are certainly more risks when you shop online. High street shops now have a secure way of paying for items with your debit card called 'chip and pin', which enables customers to privately enter their pin number in a device, so that no one can see their card number.

When you shop online, you should only give your card number out to secure sites. Nowadays, there are a lot of 'phishers' around, which are people who pretend to be companies such as Ebay and PayPal in order to obtain your personal details. It all depends which companies you put your trust in. You can read companies' privacy policies to make a decision on whether or not they are secure.

There can be risks with shopping on the high street, such as being mugged, but it's certainly not as risky as shopping on the internet.
