What Does Hybrid Mean?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

You can use the word hybrid for a species of animal or a plant that has parents of different varieties or species. The following sentence can describe the word well as it is used in the context: A mule is a hybrid animal that has been produced from a male donkey and a female horse.

But these days the word is describing anything that is the result of mixing two different things. You can prefix the word with flowers and even with language if it is conveying the same meaning. The following sentence can describe the word in this context well: He created a piece of hybrid music by conjugating western pop and traditional folk songs.

The word can be used in its verb form also and there it changed to hybridize or hybridise.
