Jack Welch was one of the most celebrated Chief Executive Officers in corporate America. He headed General Electric. Jack Welch put into practice many management ideas that have been adopted by companies across the world. These practices have been heavily debated by academics and business people. But the undeniable fact is that most of them have been very successful.
Jack Welch has penned down many of his experiences in his memoir "Straight from the Gut." He had earned the moniker "Neutron Jack" because of his drive to make General Electric a leaner and fitter organization. A neutron bomb will annihilate all the people leaving only the buildings standing. Jack Welch's philosophy of using the bell curve to weed out the non-performers left many an empty cubicle in GE. Jack Welch also tasted massive success in his "Work Out" programs that were held in General Electric's Croton Ville facility. Welch has been succeeded by Jeffery Immelt.
