Turtles are types of reptiles that can live on land or in the water. They are the slowest moving reptiles. Turtles carry shell on their back which protects them from their enemies and from weather. Turtles can see elements that are very close and can't see distant elements very well.

The turtles can hold the weight of man on the back. They can travel 4 miles per day and sea turtles can swim 20 miles an hour. Turtle body temperature goes up and down with the temperature of the air and water around them.

Various turtles might survive for up to a year with out eating. They feed on fruits, plants and flowers. Many turtles eat snails, tadpoles, fish and insects as well.

They grow up very large approximately 500-600 pounds and can live 100 to 500 years. As adults have no fear of enemies therefore they usually live a long life and die of old age usually during the winter. There is a group studying the results of aging on a certain types of turtle. What they are finding is amazing that there at some point the particular species' body resists the laws of aging and does stop aging for indefinite time period. But now all turtles are like this. So the researches observed that the turtle lifespan is between 75 to 500 years.
