Ask the vet for a sedative to give the cat before you visit the vet.
But, there are over the counter calming tablets and tropicals (scent oils) that produce a calming affect on animals.

Ask the vet for a sedative to give the cat. They are happy to help. It is really helping them out. There are also over the counter calming stuff for animals.

Some cats react badly to any type of sedative. It can actually have the opposite effect and cause their heart rate to go up. If you insist, I would take the vet's version rather than the human medicine, since the vet's version has been tested for the proper results in a cat and the Benadryl, etc. has not.

Benedryl works good but also try dramamine...i know its for motion sickness but it also works as a sedation for them too. We had to get this for my dog and it worked great he just became very lazy and tired. Good Luck.
