Abnormal urinary output, abnormal constituents of urine, abnormal urine color, uremia, fluid, electrolyte and pH imbalance vital signs (Elevation in BP), GI disturbances, headaches and pains, visual disturbances, etc.

Pain in left back under rib cage and radiates to mid back.  Rapid onset of shortness of breath.  Pain medication rarely helps.  Heating pad helps sometimes.

I have a friend who has been diagnosed with stage 3 renal failure.  She has also been given a bone marrow biopsy and they want to do a kidney biopsy to determine what course of action to proceed with, but she is to anxious to have the kidney biopsy done.   Is there any other course of action that can be done to determine the severity of her problem without this biopsy?
