    I Have A Female Basset Hound & Her Tail Is Swollen Right At The Base.What Could This Be?

    The swollen site is soft and squishy.I thought maybe she whacked it against something and broke it at first, but now I don't think so because she still wags it like crazy.It is sore to touch.Could this be an allergic reaction to fleas? Backed up anal glands?-although the rest of her back end seems fine,just the base of her tail is swollen and sore.

    It could be some sort of infection from an injury past or present. If I was you I would take the pet to a vet and have them look at it before it gets worse.
