What Documentation Is Required For US Permanent Residents Traveling To MX By Land And/or Air?

I will be traveling to Mexico later this year by land and returning by air. I can't seem to find a concrete answer. I am a permanent resident; not a citizen. Do I need to have a mexican passport to exit the country; do I need one to re-enter the US?

Yes, you now need a passport to re-enter the United States, regardless of your mode of travel.

Do you have conditional status or un-conditional status? If your status is still conditional, I would not leave the country. They say that you can travel on conditional status but they wouldn't let my wife (Venezuela) back into the country when we came back from Europe. I had to go through a bunch of bulls--t to get her back in.

If you have un-conditional status all you need is your green card and a valid passport. You definitely will need the passport. Ever since the new security laws went into effect, you need a passport to leave or enter the USA.
