If you notice either in a certain light or in a photo, that a white light is in your child's eye, it is very urgent to take your child to the hospital straight away. This could be a cancer in the eye called retinoblastoma, and if it is not caught early enough it can be fatal. This is one of the rarest cancers that occur in children but on the rare occasion it can occur in adults.
Recognizing the symptoms are very difficult as the child will feel fit and well and most feel no discomfort what so ever.
To get a diagnosis of retinoblastoma, an eye specialist which is also known as an ophthalmologist or an ophthalmic surgeon will examine the child to see if cancer is present in the eye or eyes.

There are two types of retinoblastoma; bilateral and Unbilateral. Unbilateral retinoblastoma affects only one eye and bilateral retinoblastoma affects both eyes.
