    As MP3 songs are created following MPEG standards, they need special software and hardware to play. Most of today's audio playing hardware equipments are preloaded with the MP3 playing software. Windows media player is MP3 compatible and the software is mostly used for playing any MP3 songs nowadays in Windows platform. Besides, Winamp, iTunes, Xing MPEG Audio Player, MAplay, mpg123, etc are the other software that being widely used for playing mp3 songs.

    All the iPods and other handheld players come ready to play these songs. As far as hardware is considered, the equipment should be MP3 compatible. All modern PC's are readily equipped to handle such MP3 songs. As most of the songs come in a CD or DVD, hence, it is desirable to have those accessories installed, which most of today's computer do have. If you want to download MP3 songs from the Internet, then you should have access to broadband connection. Resulting quality of the songs will depend upon the sound system you are using.
