Roanoke Island is an island which is located near the coast of North Carolina in the United States of America. The island is of Roanoke is around eight miles long and two miles wide. The island is situated between the mainland and the Barrier Islands in the county of Dare. The Albemarle Sound lies on its north and the Roanoke Sound lies to the East. To the south of the island lies the Pamlico Sound and the Croatan Sound to its west. The town of Manteo falls on the northern end of the island.
