The majority of immigrants tried to go to America and other parts unaffected by the battle during World War II. But it was mad frenzy to save their lives and the lives of their beloved ones and hence they went anywhere they could get refuge. It was a horrible war and the holocaust of the Jews is one of the greatest examples of cruelty towards man by man till date.

If you can't to know more about the war and the various happenings revolving around it or the effects of the war on the world then you should read books or surf websites which would give you information in detail. There are many such sites and books. You can find the books at the local library while the sites would be very easy to find in any major search engine like Google, Yahoo and MSN.
