    John Price 1803 -1887 was born at Pwllycrochon, Colwyn Bay and educated at Shrewsbury School.
    He was an acclaimed naturalist and author.
    One of his fellow students at Shrewsbury was Charles Darwin.
    He was then educated at St. John's College Cambridge. He opened the school for Ragged Children at Chester and taught there for many years.
    He was active in assisting the Canon Kingsley in forming and carrying on a Natural Science society in Chester and studied zoology.
    He wrote 'Old Prices Remains', and 'remarks on the Study of Language'. He contributed to the Journal Bye Gones and wrote many other works for publication.
