Where Can I Get A Sealyham Terrier Without A Docked Tail?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Sealyham terriers without docked tails are currently found in their natural habitat in Wales in the United Kingdom. Sealyham is a Welsh breed of terrier, and it is a cross between five breeds of dog, namely the Basset hound, the bull terrier, the fox terrier, the West Highland white terrier and the Dandie Dinmont terrier.

Sealyham terriers are named after Sealy Ham, the estate of Captain John Edwards. This estate is located in Haverfordwest, Wales, and its owner, Captain Edwards kept an entire pack of hunting dogs, which were renowned for their prowess in quarrying small game. Sealyham terriers are one of the 50 breeds of terriers whose tails are currently being docked to protect them from diseases. This practice is considered hygienic, and apparently does more good harm than good to the terriers, who dig holes in the ground to catch their prey. Docking terriers' tails has become the subject of a raging controversy, as veterinary surgeons argue that this is an unethical practice.
