There are barometers available for propane tanks which give you the information about the gas pressure they have and the quantity of gas present within propane tanks.

HOT WATER, pour hot water on the tank, let it set for a few seconds, then run your hand along the tank to see where the temp changes.

Thanks for that tip. It works great. I was sckeptical about whether I would be able to feel the difference on my 100 lb. Tank.

Places like Home Depot and Lowe's sell these little "stickers" that you can place on the side of the tank to helping to know the amount of fuel left in the propane tank.  Sometimes you can find them at the grocery store as well.  Also, while you are cooking, the propane is on....if you will run your hand down the side of the tank.....where the liquid part of the gas is in the tank will be much colder than where it is not.  Another quick solution, always have two tanks, one in use and another full so that you can swap out quickly, then the next day fill the other tank so you are always prepared.  Good Luck!! Get your bathroom scale and weigh the tank an empty normal tank is 15lbs to 17 lbs... A full normal size propane tank weighs 38lbs.

There is a meter with numbers on it, for example if it says 10 than you would have 10% of gas
in your tank but if it says you have50% than you would have half of a tank.
