The New 5 Dollar Bills That Are Dated 2006, Are They Worth Anything?

Answer Question

It is matter of pride at the US Treasury and the US Government, as a whole, that every unit of currency ever issued by the US Government since it was formed under the current constitution in 1789 is still worth its face value. No unit of US currency has ever been demonetized. (Of course the very old coins and paper money are worth more than face value to a collector).

Certainly, your five dollar bill is worth five dollars in the US and will be exchanged at the current rate for other currencies anywhere in the world.

A US bill dated 2006 with a $5 denomination and the number five filled in with purple, and some purple markings on the front would be worth $5 in the US, and less than that in most other developed countries since the US dollar is a relatively weak currency currently.

You don't need to go to debt counseling or be a CPA to know that it's only worth $5!  :)
