Folic Acid Deficiency Anaemia is characterised by the presence of usually bigger red blood cells. This is the most common form of megaloblastic anaemia. A deficiency of folic acid in the blood may cause this type of anaemia. The folic acid is primarily responsible for producing normal cells.

The occurrence of folic acid deficiency anaemia is prevalent among children and adolescence, most of the time due to the supply of nutritional supplements such as

    • Eggs
    • Fishes
    • Green Vegetables
    • Meat
    • Milk and Cheese
    • Mushrooms
    • Yeast

Smoking causes an interference with the amount of vitamin C absorbed in the body which is an essential component for producing folic acid in the body. Folic acid deficiency anaemia in pregnant woman may cause serious situation as during pregnancy a woman needs minimum 8 times more folic acid compared to the normal condition.
