    Margaret Atwood was a Canadian writer and author. She was born on November 18, 1939 in Ottawa, Ontario in Canada. She is a poet, a novelist, a literary critic, and a feminine and political activist. She has won many honours and awards for her well-written pieces. She writes in many different genres including Gothic and fictional stories. Her writing is interesting, suspenseful, educational, and overall, very entertaining for the reader. Many of her works detail women's life, accomplishments, failures, trials, and happiness. She was a vivid writer in regards to her feminine activist views.

    Some of her works include; 'Surfacing' (1972), 'The Handmaid's tale' (1985--which also won an award), 'Cat's Eye' (1988), 'Are You Happy' (1974), 'Murder in the Dark' (1983), and Writing with Intent: Essay, Reviews, and Personal Prose. (2005). The last book took Margaret Atwood from 1983 until 2005 to completely write and publish.
