Can U Drink Coffee If U Have An Ulcer ?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

It is best to avoid coffee if you have ulcer because it has an acid-stimulating effect (acid reflux) in the stomach which would make your ulcer more uncomfortable. Caffeinated and decaffeinated coffees both have this effect and both should be avoided. You should also try to reduce consumption of tea and especially sodas.

Some other foods that you would be better off away from are:

    Spicy food
Foods with a high fat content
    Alcohol
    Limit intake of chocolate
Limit consumption of tomatoes, onion, garlic, citrus fruits and red or black pepper

Some foods might actually provide relief to you, such as:

    Whole grains and beans
Fruits and vegetables (preferably with peel)
Milk/ dairy products (2-3 servings per day)
