How To Remove The VW Oil Filter?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

To remove the oil filter of your Volkswagen, you have to first remove the cover at the top of the radiator of the car (which is made of plastic). You have to remove the bolts that are three millimetres long. Then you have to remove the allen-head bolt from the engine mount, which is in the front of the car.

The next step is to raise the engine of the car with the help of a jack. This will give you a lot more space to reach down in the front of the car. You must be careful not to raise it too high, lest it stresses the flex hose of the power steering of the car.

Then you have to lower the thirteen-millimetre-long bolts on the oil filter housing and finally use a thirteen-millimetre-wide socket with a three-eighth drive U-shaped joint and an extension which is nine inches long to get the top bolt in the housing of the oil filter.
