When Did The Origin Of Kit Cars Take Place?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

It was not much later after the invention of automobiles that the origin of kit cars took place.  In the very early days of the automobile industry, the idea of assembling cars on a personal basis gained a smidgen of acknowledgement.  Specially in the year 1896, when the Englishman Thomas Hyler enabled the development of a car design that empowered its assembly at home, which was the year that exactly marked the inception of kit cars in the automobile industry.

The technical designs of that car were also published in a magazine known as the English Mechanic.  In the United States, the origin of kit cars took place in the year 1912, costing only 140 dollars, which amounts to about 2600 dollars in the contemporary arena.  However this idea did not actually entrench its market demand and authenticity until the middle of the twentieth century with the increased development of the automobile industry.
