    Krakow is one of the oldest and largest cities of Poland. According to the census of population conducted in the year 2004, Krakow had a total population of 780, 000. That figure, however, does not take into account the population of the communities which are situated adjacent to the city of Krakow. If their population is counted, the population of Krakow is estimated to be approximately 1.4 million. The city of Krakow dates back to the seventh century. It is located at a latitude of 50 degrees and four minutes to the north and at a longitude of 19 degrees and 57 minutes to the east.

    It covers a total surface area of approximately 326.8 square kilometres. The twin cities of Krakow are Bordeaux, Bratislava, Curitiba, Cuzco, Edinburgh, Fes, Florence, Frankfurt, Gothenburg, Innsbruck, Kyiv, La Serena, Leipzig, Leuven, Lviv, Milan, Nuremburg, Orleans, Pecs, Rochester (New York), Seville, Solothurn, Vilnius and Zagreb.
