    The Alkaline-Earth metals are the second group on the periodic table (second column). When an ion they have a +2 charge and bind with a non metal creating an ionic compound. The Alkaline-Earth metals include Be (Beryllium), Mg (Magnesium), Ca (Calcium), Sr (Strontium), Ba (Barium), and Ra (Radium).
