Germany decided to invade Norway to keep Britain from badly needed raw materials. Denmark was in the way. Additionally, airfields in Denmark were needed in order to attack Norway and later to defend Norway after Germany took control. So Denmark became embroiled in WW2 due to it's unfortunate location next to Germany and Norway, which the Germans decided had to be taken over by military force.
