    Salton Sea is actually a saline lake. The surface area of this lake is about 376 square miles or 974 square km. situated in the Colorado Desert and is the largest lake in the State of California. The area and dimension of this lake varies from time to time depending on the rain and agricultural run-off. The maximum depth of this lake is 51 feet and has an average of 15 by 35 miles.

    The volume of the Salton Sea is 7.5 million acre-feet. It is so big that it falls in the territory of two counties in the same state. These counties are Imperial and Riverside County. Salton Sea Lake is located below the sea level. They say that the deepest point in Salton sea is as deep as the death valley.
