Even though I've never been exposed to it. I would think it's better. It's one on one, which is most helpful to students struggling. I think the only drawback might be the lack of interaction between students.

I think it would depend on the quality of guidance that you get at home. If your parents, siblings or whoever is going to take on the task of tutoring you, good at their job, there is no reason why it can't be a good alternative for you to a proper school where you don't feel at ease. It'll also depend on the time you put in and whether you can maintain a certain discipline and adhere to a time table that allows you to reach your target in the given time. You may make up for what is termed as the 'hidden curriculum', that is the social atmosphere provided by the school, by hanging out with your friends outside the school campus and thus keeping up the social side as well. You can also compare notes and monitor your progress by meeting up with them every now and then. Go for it!

During high school I was home schooled so that I could take care of my mother who was very sick. There are many programs for homeschoolers in a most communities who offer classes a few days a week for the purpose of maintaining a curriculum and to make sure that kids get some interaction. You can still pick your own projects and subjects but it allows you the opportunity to work with others on your own terms. Your local high school might also allow you to take a few classes... Electives for example, as mine did. I stayed in theatre and art classes the entire time after I learned to drive as my mother could no longer drive. It was great. If you don't want to have contact with others that is your choice but maybe yous hould consider counselling and or medication it sounds like you have serious anxiety issues. If the parents are committed and involved I totally recommend homeschooling though, the parents end up learning just as much as the kids do.

Thank you! That was really well put, I'm glad someone else was home schooled during high school. Finally someone that understands how much better and more convenient it is. :) I'm sorry to hear about your mother, I must say.

Home schooling is different than regular schooling. Your parent becomes your teacher. You spend a lot of time at home. You won't ever have group projects and there won't be anyone to ask if they understood the math homework. All of your questions go through the teacher. The schedule will also be more flexible. However, your knowledge will be limited to your parent's knowledge (this is not to say that your parents are dumb- I'm just making the analogy, for example- if you wanted to learn about physics, but your parents never took physics, that would be a problem).

You should get exactly the same amount of education, the only thing different is you can't be late!

I think it is better to be in a school, for friends, to meet new people and a better education. At schools you can learn by interacting with other people and at most schools there are lots of group activities and discussions that you won't be able to do at home. I also wanted to be home schooled, so I understand your view, but I think you may regret it!

That's where you're wrong: there's dozens of school functions, group activities, field trips and get-together to get involved with in home schooling. You can't regret home schooling: it's safer, more fun and the curriculum is easy to understand. I don't know why people think homeschooling is even like public school; that's a very poor assumption.

Homeschooling is a lot better than public school. You can still study with your friends, it doesn't change anything. You just aren't at an actual school, you're at a more homey area. You learn more anyway; home school will always remain supreme.
