Every Cell Co Makes You Buy Their Proprietary Equipment Just To Use Their Service I Understand Its Their Profit, But Come On, Is This Ridiculous A 200 Phone For 30 Phone Service?

I'd love to save money... I want the service but don't want to pay 200 for a phone! Probably why most people don't switch services...

I agree the practice is frustrating for consumers, and yes this is the way companies can maintain their customers, in addition to making transfer of data from old phone to new phone very complex or even impossible, which means customers then must manually enter all data in new phones from different service carriers.  But maybe this will help.  Please know some companies at least in US usually will offer free or  low cost phones when you switch service if you will sign a 1 or 2 year agreement for service.  Such companies include Verizon, T-Mobile and Qwest.  Also you may ask of their special promotions which they will have occasionally when they wish to cultivate new customers from their competitors.

It's not ridiculous; it's business. Get yourself a TracFone if their still in business.
