What Are There Different Sized Pianos?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

There are two types of basic sized pianos; the grand piano and the upright piano.

The frame and the strings of a grand piano are placed horizontally; the strings of the grand piano are extended away from the keyboard. Due to this adjustment the grand piano becomes a large instrument. The ideal setting for a grand piano is the spacious rooms which has high ceilings and are used for proper resonance. Even in the grand piano there are three types of the pianos; The Concert Grand, The Boudoir Grand and The Baby Grand.

The upright pianos which are also known as the Vertical Pianos, they are known by such names because the frame and the strings are all placed in a vertical position, thus extending in both the directions from the hammers and the keyboards.
