    Free radicals are species having one or more free electrons.These are produced as a result of metabolism especially by electron transport chain.These free  radicals being highly reactive,like hydroxyl and superoxide radical , change or damage the structure of of many protein, lipids and nucleic acids ultimately leading to tissue damage or cell death.cell injury
