Is A Lease Void If A Minor Signs It, Even Though An Adult Also Signs?

My new landlord made my 17 year old daughter sign the lease and charged me 25 dollars to check her credit. Does this void the contract completely, or am I still responsible for the lease? My landlord is a jerk and I fear I may have to sue him to get my deposit back!

Did you sign the lease as well?  If so, then you are responsible.  In most states, there is nothing the landlord can do to your daughter since she was still a minor when she signed; but he can go after you for any monies owed if your signature is on the lease as well.  I never see any reason for a minor to sign a contract... It does not even affect their credit until they are 18, at which time they are usually required to "re-sign" any paperwork.
