200 Amp Circuit Breaker Box, What Does That Rating Mean?

When I total up the breakers in my box the total is larger than 200amps. Is a 200 amp box limited to 200amps worth of breakers or 200 amps being used at the same time? Or what does that rating mean?

It means that 200 amps is the max allowable amps to be put on that panel. The individual breaker amount doesn't matter as you will never be using everything or the total capacity of the breakers at the same time. The NEC allows numerous percentage deductions when you are figuring out the total load of a specific building or residence.
