In Which Ocean Will You Find The Canary Islands?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Canary Islands start about 60 miles off of Morocco and scatter over about 300 miles out into the Atlantic Ocean. The island chain consists of seven larger islands: Tenerife, Fuertenventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, La Palma, La Gomera and Hierro, and four smaller ones: La Graciosa, Alegreza, Lobos and Montafla Clara, and is part of Spain.

The Canary Islands are volcanic in origin and while they are blessed with tropical Tradewinds, the famous Mount Teide on Tenerife has a snow-capped peak. And although these islands are lush with tropical vegetation their waters are cooler then those found in other tropical islands, such as those in the Caribbean Sea, due to currents that flow from the north to the south. Even the air temperature is cooler in the Canaries with daytime temperatures rarely getting above 25 degrees Celsius in the summer. The islands have been described as being in a perpetual springtime.
