How Did The American Revolution Start?

I am new to Blurtit and i would like to know when and how the American revolution started and what are some of the major events that took place.

    This is debatable. Some say it was ignited by the dissatisfaction of the American colonists with all of the taxes put on them by King George III (particularly the Currency Act of 1764 & the Stamp Act). The american colonists felt these taxes were unjust because of "taxation without representation". Others say factors such as Pontiac's Rebellion and the Royal Proclamation of 1763 were the precursors to this. If you're wondering about the first battle that got started, it would be the Battle of Golden Hill in 1770 or some might even say 4 years prior, the skirmishes that took place over the cutting down of the liberty poles in celebration of the repeal of the Stamp Act.

      It started because the 13 colonies didn't like all the taxes being forced on them and wanted religious freedom
      wanted independence beacause of the sugar act, stamp act, townsheld at and quartering act
