It is thought that fat does affect cancer and generally a study has shown that patients with cancer, who have higher fat levels, have more chance of dying from breast and colon cancer than anybody else. Not only does it affect your chances of survival whilst you have the cancer however, but it also affects your chances of developing the cancer too.
Generally it is animal fats that seem to be more harmful than vegetable fats and in people who eat beef and pork up to six times a week, a study showed that there was a 200 percent increase in breast cancer. Meat is mainly associated with colon cancer and meat and milk is associated with prostate and ovarian cancer.
Fat increases hormone production and that tends to increase breast cancer risks. It also increases the production of bile acids which is linked to colon cancer. So, overall fat does play a big part in cancer development and survival rates which is why it is always better to eat healthily!

It has recently been announced (Dec 2006) by British scientists, that there will be an epidemic of cancer problems over the next few years simply because the population is getting fatter.
