What Is The Fastest Kentucky Derby Time Ever?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

First, you have to understand that the Derby has been run at several distances.  The current distance a 1-1/4 mile or 10 furlongs.  The fastest time at that distance is held by the great Secretariat, who in 1973 won the Kentucky Derby in 1:59.40.  Secretariat is one of only two horses to ever run the Derby under 2 minutes, an amazing accomplishment.  If you want to watch Secretariat's win in the Derby or read more about Secretariat or other Derby winners, there is a fantastic site, www.horseracegame.com that featurs an entire section on Secretariat and another entire section on the Kentucky Derby.  There is video content, audio interviews, photo gallery of all the great Derby champions.  The site also has a 3D virtual game platform that allows players to race and compete against others as jockeys or bettors using some of the greatest world-class thoroughbred hoses from all over the world.
