What Is The Larynx?
Anonymous 0% helpful
It is a sort of system in the mammals and is usually called the voice box because it contains the vocal cords. It is made up of four main components which are cartilaginous skeleton, extrinsic muscles, intrinsic muscles, and a mucosal lining. The extrinsic muscles connect the thyroid, arytenoid and cricoid cartilages in the cartilaginous skeleton to the head and neck while the intrinsic muscles control the position and shape of the vocal folds.
The main function performed by the larynx is helping in swallowing, breathing and speaking. It controls the production, articulation and resonance of the voice. Most of the problems of the larynx are curable and disorders don't cause death until the condition is too severe which happens very rarely.
You can see the exact anatomy of the Larynx.
