    Carbon is basically a chemical element that is non-metallic solid in nature. It is one of the oldest known chemicals in the world. It is found in a number of forms called Allotrope and each one of these forms have variable properties. However, carbon in all its forms is highly stable.

    On the other hand, Carbon dioxide is a chemical compound that is formed by a covalent bond between two oxygen atoms and a single carbon atom. At standard temperature it is a gas. It is widely available in the atmosphere of the earth. And is essential for the plant and animal life on earth.
