How Can I Troubleshoot An Automatic Transmission Not Shifting Properly?

I have a 1996 Chevy Cavalier with auto transmission with no overdrive. It shifts fine from first to second, with reverse ok also. It will not shift from second to third. The tranny has 78,000 miles on it. The filter and fluid are new. Does the tranny have separate shift modules internally? Please give me any help you can, I would like to repair it myself. Thank you

The repairing of a system or a drive is a risky issue and it can also cause damage to your car. The better is to take it to some advance auto mechanic shop in your area. Otherwise before repairing you have to study the repair manual of the car model you are going to deal with. So if you have manual you can study it and repair your car. If you do not have a manual you can easily order it at www.repairmanual.com. They will get you the one for your car and if they do not have one, they will arrange it for you. This manual will not only help you in this situation but you can also take an inside of your vehicle from it.
