After I Have Had Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatment, Do I Have To Leave Time To Recover?

Answer Question

Many people do not notice any problems after the procedure but it is not uncommon to have slight swelling and irritation. To treat this, an ice pack should do the trick and your surgeon or doctor will be able to prescribe various medications to help you with any discomfort you may feel. Some people find that they have irritation for sometimes over ten days after the treatment so it all really depends upon your individual response to the treatment as to what reaction you will have, if any.
Sometimes some surgeons apply a bandage to the treated area afterwards to enable a full recovery. If you do have a bandage it will need to replaced within a couple of days and then after a week ointment should usually be applied but your surgeon should talk you through that. You will also be given instructions as to how to best look after your new, delicate skin. The most important thing to remember is that if you do have any scabs or redness, do not pick at them. Picking at them could lead to scars and that is definitely not something you want to happen after you have just gone through this treatment!
