Nothing against research, it is important and provides us with ever more knowledge which we can apply to healing and the maintenance of health. We all would do well to support research in every possible way. For example, we have scientific research to thank for deciphering the first and long unknown enzyme. The first of the busy and helpful sprites that do so much which is necessary for life.
Scientists naturally realized, even then what fantastic opportunities there would be if these sprits could be trained to be obedient servants of medicine.
The previous century was therefore the era when we began to go beyond a blind, instinctive use to a targeted, deliberated exploitation of enzymes for medical purposes. The application of enzymes in medicine is divided roughly into three fields of Analysis and diagnosis, Pharmacology and Therapy.
However, the story had drawback from the start. In order to be able to use a particular enzyme in targeted manner, it is first necessary to be able to isolate the enzymes individually. That did not prove to be easy. Many experiments fails and many theories remained just theories because the enzymes were not completely pure and absolutely free from other proteins.
