The length of the diagonal is 14 underoot 2. Because for a square with perimeter 56, the length of one side is 14. And the diagonal is the side multiplied by underoot 2.

The formula for the hypotenuse of a right triangle which is one diagonal half of a square is (Altitude2 + Base2) = Hypotenuse2. (the diagonal)Since, in a square, all sides are of equal length, the length of one side is 56/4 or 14. The formula becomes (142 + 142) = Diagonal2 or 196 +196 = diagonal2 or 392 = Diagonal2 or Diagonal = Square root of (392) or diagonal = approximately 19.8.
