Not that many in Britain -- yet.

Actually, not that many people have died directly from just crystal meth use in the USA, either. Most of the people dying in meth-related incidents also used other drugs, making it hard to disentangle how much to blame just on the meth. So it's really hard to get the stats you're after.

That's as much as an objective answer as I can give, rest is rather more subjective.

There are several former crystal meth addicts in my extended family, including identical twins. Although he hasn't used for years, Twin One is still badly brain damaged and locked into "brain-induced psychosis" -- another way of saying schizophrenia. He also has hepatitis C which will eventually kill him, because of the nasty life his addiciton lead him into (male prostitution included).

Neither twin showed signs of schizophrenia before crystal meth. Twin Two used Crystal, but luckily a lot less, isn't schizophrenic..

I have spoken to a deputy in San Diego jails who says that the Crystal Meth inmate addicts are a distinct group of lost causes. San Diego was the Crystal Meth capital of the USA for decades and it's a horrible scourge in the region, destroying people, families and lives, irrevocably.

I can't begin to understand why anybody would risk going near the stuff. Death would be a relatively easy outcome, compared to the usual damage it does.
