Do You Have A House Or Building In Your Town/area With A History Of Tragedy Making The Place A 'real Haunted House'?

We have a historic jail and marshal house here and many criminals of old were incarcerated there. Also during Civil War, the order # 11, many women and children were forced into the cell, packed in there standing up, unable to lie or sit, no air etc. Apparently many eerie things happen in there at night and the local cops won't even check it out!

I lived in a 100 year old house in Michigan, and a lot of weird things happened in there... When I was in the basement I always had the sensation that someone was watching me all the time... I would hear footsteps upstairs in the livingroom when I was in the basement and I would be home alone. Also, the attic was a full 3rd story and was never finished off.. There were no floors just exposed insulation. At night I would hear footsteps on my ceiling, and sometimes the door to the attic would open on its own.  One day I was in the spare bedroom on the computer.. I walked past the attic door..I had 2 huge storage bins in front of the door and pushed them against the door as I passed by it.. I went to the steps, my daughter handed me a glass of tea, I turned went back up the 4 steps where I met my daughter and the bins were moved and the door was wide open... It scared me so much I dropped my glass of tea. That night a friend came over and put a hasp and paddle lock on the door so it couldn't open. We called it the vault after that. I hated to be there alone at night, and would talk to my fiancee on the phone until I fell asleep. I would wake up with my cell phone still on my pillow...lol

I live in a house where, 30 years apart, two suicides were committed in the basement.  The basement is now finished out into a living area and there has been activity that makes others uncomfortable, but I just ignore it.  I don't know if it's a memory thing??  Or, are we sharing the space?  Either way, I don't feel that they can cross over anymore than we can them.  There seems to be an invisible barrier between the two.  I 'smell' them, I feel them and hear them.......but no one has ever been harmed in any way.  When the light flicks on or the stereo gets turned off, etc...I just say, "Hey, stop that!!" and they do =)
I did have the house blessed and cleared by a Native American simply because of the way they died.  Suicide leaves a negative imprint that should be cleared as do deaths caused by murder or any other unnatural cause.

this is not to answer my own ?? but to add a thought to the previous..there is also a civil war house in a town to the east, that was used as a hospital and prison, going back and forth between the north and south.  there are bloodstains on the floors from the injured soldiers, bullet and minie ball holes in the walls and even the frayed portion of a rope used as a noose, hanging from the ceiling of the porch.  the battle was fought right behind the house  with many soldiers falling and being buried in the yard up the hill from the house,  now there is reason to believe in creepy happenings!  i am a huge civil war buff- we have alot of history here in my area.
