Even if you have relaxed yourself physically or mentally something different happens in that magic moment when you are standing in front of a group, actually starting to speak. What can you do for relaxation as you speak? For one thing try talking to the interested listeners. There are always a few kind souls out there who nod, smile and generally react favorably.

Especially at the beginning of your presentation look at them not at the people reading, looking out of window, or yawning. Looking at your positive listeners will increase your confidence. Pretty soon you will be looking at the people around those good listeners and then at every person in the audience.

Also as you speak, remember that you probably look better than you think you look. This statement might sound a little too optimistic to be believed so let me back it up with to kinds of evidence. First having watched thousands of videotaped playbacks with students, I am amazed the number of them who say," Hey I look better than I thought I would". Second many trained specially instructor report that they do not see all the nervous symptoms a speaker thinks he or she is exhibiting.
